The person behind SerpUp -- not just another agency
I'm Chris, founder of SerpUp. I've spent over 10 years in SEO and web design, starting back in 2013, working across multiple digital agencies before deciding businesses deserved something better than what I kept seeing on the inside.
After years of watching how SEO was often done -- vague reports, generic strategies, contracts that outlasted any real accountability -- I created SerpUp to do it differently: transparent, effective, and genuinely focused on your business growing, not just a dashboard looking busy.
Why I Started SerpUp
I got into digital marketing in 2013, and for years I worked inside agencies of different sizes, on different teams, for different kinds of clients. It was a genuinely good education -- I learned technical SEO, local SEO, content strategy, and eventually web design and development, all from the inside of businesses whose entire job was ranking other businesses on Google.
But the longer I stayed in that world, the more a pattern became impossible to ignore. Agencies would chase rankings for their own sake, disconnected from whether those rankings actually turned into calls or customers for the client. Business owners would pay a monthly retainer for months, sometimes years, without a clear sense of what was actually being done on their behalf. Strategies got copied from one client to the next with minimal adjustment for what made each business genuinely different. Contracts ran long, with little real accountability if results never showed up. Reports looked impressive and said almost nothing useful.
None of that is a mystery to fix -- it's just not what most agencies are built around. So I built SerpUp to be built around it instead: honest recommendations even when they're not the exciting answer, transparent strategy you can actually follow, reporting that connects directly to rankings, traffic, leads, calls, and revenue, and campaigns built around your specific business instead of a template with your logo swapped in. I explain everything in plain English, because you shouldn't need an SEO background to understand what you're paying for.
I also treat every client relationship as a long-term partnership, not a transaction. That's not a slogan -- it's the reason SerpUp doesn't lock anyone into a long contract. I'd rather earn your business every single month by actually doing the work than rely on a signature to keep you around.
SEO isn't just about ranking on Google
Ranking is a means to an end, not the goal itself.
The actual goal of SEO is getting the right customers to discover your business, increasing genuinely qualified traffic, turning that traffic into leads and paying customers, and building visibility that keeps working for you over the long term -- not a one-time spike that fades the moment attention moves elsewhere.
That means every strategy I build includes technical SEO, local SEO, real keyword research, competitor analysis, a genuine content strategy, on-page optimization, website improvements, user experience improvements, and authority building -- not just one or two of these in isolation, since they all affect each other more than most agencies let on.
It also means being clear about what I won't do: black-hat tactics that put your site at risk of a future penalty, short-term tricks designed to look good for a quarter and fade afterward, and vanity metrics that make a report look busy without actually helping your business grow. If a number doesn't connect to real business outcomes, I don't lead with it.
Over 10 years across SEO and web design
Most agencies specialize in one or the other. I've built real, hands-on experience in both, because they're rarely handled well together, even though they directly affect one another.

I've found that a lot of businesses struggle simply because their website and their SEO strategy are disconnected -- built by different people, at different times, with no shared plan. Understanding how websites, search engines, and actual customers all work together is exactly why having both skill sets under one roof matters. I've also worked across a genuinely wide range of industries, which reinforced something important: every business needs a strategy built around how its specific customers actually search, not a one-size-fits-all package.
Why SerpUp instead of a traditional agency
Founder-led, start to finish
You're working directly with the person building your strategy, not a rotating account team.
Direct communication
Questions get real, direct answers from me, not a support ticket queue or a junior account manager reading from a script.
No unnecessary complexity
I explain what I'm doing and why in plain language, because understanding your own strategy shouldn't require an SEO degree.
Built around your goals
Every strategy starts with what your business actually needs -- more calls, more bookings, more revenue -- not a generic template.
Real transparency
You'll always know exactly what's being done and why it matters, reported in terms that connect to your actual business.
Personalized attention
You're not a number in a portfolio of hundreds of accounts. Your business gets real, ongoing attention.
I created SerpUp to help businesses compete online through honest, effective SEO -- the kind that improves real visibility and creates real opportunities to grow, not just a better-looking report.
